Phillip Granville Spaulding is a fictional character on the popular CBS daytime soap opera, Guiding Light. The character is the adopted son of business mogul, Alan Spaulding, and his first ex-wife, Elizabeth. Phillip has been portrayed by three different actors with Grant Aleksander the most recent to fill this role. Aleksander joined the cast in 1982, leaving in 1984 but returning to the role in 1987. He enjoyed a five-year run before leaving again in 1991. Five years later, in 1996, he returned and played the role until November 2004,[] when he was presumably shot dead[] at the Cooper restaurant, Company. In July 2005 however, Phillip was revealed to be alive and well when he was visited by Alan.

In 2007, it was alleged by Phillip's son Zach Spaulding that he would be making a return. Phillip began sending threatening letters to taunt his ex-wives (only the ones who bore children by him) Harley Cooper, Beth Spaulding Bauer, and Olivia Spencer. After nearly five years of threats, Phillip will finally return to Springfield in February 2009.[]
